A Month in the Rain Forest

October – November 2008

This was my second trip to Nyungwe National Park. This time, the task at hand was the installation of two repeaters in the park, which included two fairly good mountain ascents.  The project was part of a USAID effort administered by The International Resources Group to improve eco-tourism.  In this case the repeaters were installed to track habitat, assist tourism, stop poachers, and generally police use of park land.  The area is between 6,000 – 10,000 ft in elevation.  Temperatures are mild despite being located very close to the equator.  Daytime temperatures never seemed to exceed 75.
