Surface Weather Network Modernization
Evaluate surface monitoring network for a collaborative effort to improve measurement of hydrologic and meteorologic parameters. Perform site survey of existing equipment and provide recommendations to EMGESA, ACUEDUCTO, and CAR which represent environmental and power generation concerns in Colombia, South America.
Consider telecommunications infrastructure that will allow the operation of the network over a large area comprised of complex terrain in remote areas. Design solution and provide specifications to entities in Colombia.
The eventual recommendation included a telecommunications system that would relay the information via satellite in real-time, complete with durable sensors that could withstand the harsh environment of the Rio Bogota.
